They're kind of like guardian angels for good witches, destined or powerful people and future whitelighters. To protect them from grave dangers or guide them towards a specific destiny. I'm half whitelighter, on my father's side.

It's rarely a random whatever. Usually we'd try to...integrate into the background, my father was my mother's handyman for like...ever. But this is a small town.
It means that if something happens, and she's harmed or in danger you'll be able to call me and I will hear you no matter where I am and be able to orb there and probably take care of it. And help her learn to control or bind abilities, should she have them.
Binding means temporarily blocking them from her until she's ready to deal with them.
I'm not one hundred percent sold, really. Maybe my upcoming trip to Hawaii with Stitch will help? That's where the food'll be based out of.
I think honesty is the best policy, really. I think it'd be better if it came from you and not from a secondary source, because then people could see it as you hiding something from them. And, hazarding a guess that this is about you, with the group of people you hang with, your pack and all? I don't see how most of them'd decide to stick by you, regardless of what it is.
