It's just a you thing. No connotation attached beyond amazement.

You just don't seem the type to have anything to do with something like magic.

[ He almost looks like he believes that. ]

Okay, then. Magic is now your thing.

Now wait, I didn't say that.... I still like what I can see, what I can prove.

[ He rubs the back of his neck with his hand. ]

I won't deny that you're tolerable.

[ High praise comming from him]

Tolerable.

Well, talk about damning with faint praise.

I think you were doing better talking about magic.

[She couldn't help, but shake her head and chuckle unbelievingly under her breath.]

[He looks genuinely confused. ]

What did I do?

Generally when you're talking to people, referring to them as 'tolerable' is not considered complimentary.

Especially when it sounds like that's the best thing you could say about the person.

Look at it this way, you work like crazy on one of your inventions and someone says, 'eh, it's not offensive.' Not exactly the response you might want.

But.... But wait. Tolerable is Good! I mean I can't stand most people or maybe they can't stand me, I never looked to closely at it. I was a genius, what did I care about what people thought of me.

But, I actually like you. I mean you are interesting and you call me out and you're smart.

[She's trying hard not to show how much she wants to just crack up over this.]

Now, that's better than tolerable. Thank you.

And you know, New Dodge is a small place. You might want to consider thinking a little more about those things. Especially since there are an awful lot of geniuses here.

[Rodney paused considering what Mercy said for a second ]

Well.... no problem.

[ smooth... ]

I'm used to being the only smart person in the room.

[as if that explained everything ]

Well, guess you're going to need to adjust your thinking and get to know some of the other geniuses around here.

[He might just get a rude awakening. Or some of the others might.]
