[He's not the light sleeper that he used to be, not with Steve warm and close and sharing the bed. So the shifting only gets a soft mutter into the pillow.

The statement however?
That wakes him up and fast.

It's not that he'd forgotten his own birthday, but it's that Steve somehow knew. He takes a slow breath to calm his racing mind.]

It's just another day.

[Steve feels the tension filling him and gives a soft hum of apology. He hadn't meant to upset him. When he'd run into Lisa in town and she'd asked him what he'd done for Len's birthday Steve had been a little ashamed that he hadn't thought to ask Len the question himself.

It seems Len feels similarly about birthdays as he does.]

Nothing needs to happen or anything. I just wanted you to hear it from someone who cares about you.

I don't.. I don't celebrate them. [He shifts to face him, kissing him in apology.] I haven't since I was about Helen's age.

[Steve let Len roll over before wrapping his arm back around him and pulling him close once more. He leans into the kiss not caring about morning breath. He offers Len a small smile]

I understand. I never liked my birthday either...though I think it's for different reasons. My birthday is July 4th. Just so we're even.

[His nose wrinkles because this isn't the same as sharing a birthday with a holiday.] Our father was a monster.

When Lisa was older I took everything so she didn't have to. I learned how to steal so she could eat, I stole things for her birthday and for holidays.

Presents and holidays were never for me, never anything I thought of. Please don't.

[Steve is horrible at relationships. Someone should just dig a hole and bury him in it because he's screwing this all up. He'd cry if he didn't think it would make Len even more uncomfortable. The last thing he wants to do is make Len realize he's better off without him]

Okay. I won't. I'm sorry.

Don't be. [He can read Steve like an open book and Leonard can see him at war with himself. He kisses him softly.]

You didn't know and I didn't tell you.

[Steve presses into the kiss before pulling back and just relaxing in the bed beside Len.]

Do you like camping? Hiking? Being out in the middle of nowhere all alone and just surrounded by nature? In a cabin...not a tent.

[Hello change of subject. He relaxes beside him, shifting to trail his fingers along the peaks and valleys of Steve's chest. Leonard snorts fondly.]

Central City slums kid here. The only time I've been out in the sticks was a safehouse after a job or two.

[those fingers trailing over his chest draw a small involuntary shudder from him and his skin breaks out in goose flesh for a moment. He chuckles softly.]

Hmm...I know you don't like the beach so I was kind of thinking you'd enjoy the mountains...but if you've never been then I guess you wouldn't really know.

I like New Dodge...but I miss surprise early morning rain storms. The sound of water hitting a tin roof.

You could always ask. [He pokes his side with a crooked grin, touched that Steve is thinking about what he might like.]

So you're wanting a vacation? Or a Hopper trip back to earth?

[Okay that tickles and he flinches from the teasing poke while chuckling.]

Yeah I suppose. Bucky was always the one good with relationships. I've always been fairly hopeless.

And yeah. I thought after everything recently some time away would be nice.

I think you've been doing all right. [A soft reassurance as he rests a hand on Steve's chest to feel the measured thump of his heartbeat.]

You pick the place and I'll be there. [He'll have to tell Lise to watch the casino and why and.. and all of that will wait. Right now he's going to focus on the man in his life and in his bed. The man who made him feel again.]

[Steve loves the way Len touches him. His hands are so expressive and oddly enough Len is very tactile even if he himself doesn’t like being touched that much.]

Alright. I can do that.

What do you say to a little bit of a lie in this morning? [he leans in for a passionate kiss and lets his hand slide from Len’s back to his hip]

You could be on top if you wanted too.

[Touch is easier than words. His hands and lips and body can find ways to tell Steve how important he is to him when he can't choke out the words.

He smirks and trails kisses along his jaw.] Mmn. I did have the most wonderful dream about riding you.

[Steve groans when Len starts trailing kisses along his neck.]

Sounds like a good dream. [Steve rolls so he’s lying on his back with Len above him]

I’d give you anything I could that you want Leonard. Absolutely anything.

[He rolls with him easily, straddling his thighs. Leonard threads their fingers together, looking down at him.] I have everything I need. [A family. Mick and Lisa and a little girl and now this, with Steve. A chance to feel again.]

[Steve gives a soft laugh as he lets Len thread their fingers together and lean over him. Yeah, he's got everything he needs too]

Wasn't what I was referring too but I'll take it all the same. I meant with this. [He rolls his hips up against Len's.] If you ever wanna do something different I'm open to it. And if you don't that's alright too. I'm just happy you want me in the first place.

[That's a lot of trust and Leonard leans down to kiss him again before they lose themselves in one another. He takes his time with things until they're both left sated and exhausted in bed. There are more lazy kisses and touches before they're up and in the shower, in search of breakfast.

Leonard is relaxed and content in ways that he never thought he'd have again. Happy.]

[Steve enjoys the unhurried coupling and lazy kisses and cuddle afterwards before they actually have to start their day. He drops a kiss on Len's cheek and hugs him from behind lightly while the other gets Gideon to make their breakfast.]

I'm thinking you and me, Dinner somewhere tonight.

Oh you are? [A lightly amused sound as he turns into the kiss.] It'll have to be a late one, three tour groups are visiting the casino this evening so the floor is going to be packed.

I could always bring something snd we could eat in your office. [he presses kisses along Lens neck just being affectionate]
