[Mick smiles at her and hugs her tightly his face buried in her hair for a moment, savoring it. He'd said it...he'd meant it. He did love her. No matter how much it terrified him he did.
She loves him back.
After a bit he steps back so she can come inside proper and they can be out of prying sight of everyone else.]
[A warm laugh as she nods and the gear begins to fall away in a neat stack by the door. Headpiece, chest plate, shield, sword, the gauntlets and leather wrappings, leaving her in a simple cotton and leather shift beneath.] there. Is that better?
[She looks at him with full and warm affection, thumb moving in a gentle sweep across his cheek. Her gruff, strong, wonderful man. She loves him so much.] Much better.
Get started. I'm going to go borrow a shirt so you can teach me something while you cook. [A playful smile as she slips out of his arms, heading towards his room to steal one of her favorite shirts. Not that it's cold, but they tend to get less distracted this way.]
[Mick nods and pulls the chicken out of the fridge along with a few other things to grill as well. He waits for her to come back in one of his shirts, a surge of both adoration and lust moving through him because damn she looks great in anything...or nothing.]
You're gonna cook, I'm gonna teach ya. First you're gonna open the door for me. [He leads her out back to his little grill pit that he'd made. It was cheaper than buying a grill or trying to get one from C&P.
He shows her how to test the heat of the grill, how to clean the grate and get it ready for the food. Then he shows her how best to arrange it so it cooks evenly then covers it with the lid.]
Now we wait for a few minutes until it's time to flip it.
[Mick tells her all he knows about grilling chicken. How to test it to see if it's done. The dos and donts when it comes to flipping it. That it's important to let it rest afterwards before you cut into it.
He also teaches her how to grill corn on the cob and pineapple slices and little foil potato packets. He even brings a couple beers out for them to share while they sit in lawn chairs waiting for their food to cook]
Good. I'm planning history lessons for next week. The self defense classes are still going well. [All in all, she's busy, but happy with her life and what she does.
Learning from Mick is a wonderful experience and she takes in everything he can share with her.
When he brings the beer out she accepts with a smile.] This is quite relaxing.

Then he's pulling back, eyes pleading with her as he struggles to get the words out and as he does Diana's smile is warm and filled with affection.
Callused hands cup his face as she kisses him softly. Treasuring the words, the gift that he'd given her.]
Thank you.
I love you Mick Rory. So much.

She checks the fire's heat, cleans and prepare the grill, following everything Mick teaches her.
It's fun, if very different from anything she had learned as a child.]
