[Mick has been feeling steadily worse all day. He’s lying on the couch, Helen napping in the playpen near him. He knows if she starts crying he won’t have the energy to pick her up. His entire body feels cold and weak. He texts Diana because he knows she’s going to be off soon anyway. Bucky is busy feeding up and Len is at the Casino]Hey, doll. Can you come home? I'm not feeling too good.
Come on, you should be in bed. [And if Mick can't get there on his own power, she'll carry him before placing a worried call to Bucky.
Diana has no experience with illness, not like this, so when Bucky arrives he's quick to send her with Helen to Leonard. He spent most of his childhood nursing Steve through one sickness or another.
He lets himself into their bedroom, moving silently to sit beside him.] You know if you wanted us to come home, you didn't have to get sick to do it.
[Mick is able to stand, and after a moment the dizziness passes enough for him to be able to walk back to their bedroom with her help. He lays in the bed and rolls over onto his side as he starts shivering again. He fells terribly but he can also see how worried she is. So he tries his best to reassure her]
S'prolly nothin' too bad. Just a fever. [He dozes the few minutes it takes Bucky to arrive, now that he knows someone else is here for Helen he feels like maybe he can finally rest. Just a little rest and he'll be back to new. He knows it. The bed dips and he smells Bucky before he hears him]
Haha...funny guy. [That and a small half smile is about all he has energy for.] Time is it?
Fuck you, I'm hilarious. [Bucky runs his right hand across his forehead, gauging just how high his fever is with a vague frown.] It's just past four. Diana's taking Helen over to Snart's for the week. Him and Stevie can take care of her.
[Fucking sounds a lot more fun than what he's currently dealing with right now. He does lean into the touch though because Bucky's hand is blissfully cool.]
Las' night. Won't too bad. Took some tylenol and laid down on the couch. Didn't feel this bad when ya'll left this mornin'. Should take more.
[Bucky switches to his left hand, letting the vibranium plates absorb the heat and hopefully cool him down.] At least me and Di can't catch whatever knocked you on your ass.
[The question gets him an amused snort] They don't know it yet, but I know that look Stevie gets when he talks about him.
[Mick sits up and takes the pills and drinks the water. It takes a minute, he has to sip it because sitting up makes him feel a little more dizzy. His entire body is starting to hurt but he doesn't say anything just yet. He still thinks it's nothing serious]
Go back to sleep. One of us will check on you in a few minutes. [Bucky brushes his lips across his forehead and takes the time to gently tuck Mick into bed.
Then he's off to reassure Diana and keep watch for the night.]
[Mick curls into the bed trying to go to sleep. His body is still trembling slightly and his fever still high in spite of the medicine. Several hours later he wakes with the need to use the bathroom. Even though he feels weak as a newborn kitten he doesn't call for assistance. Instead he tries to get up himself and make it to the bathroom. Only..he doesn't actually get there. He manages about halfway across the room before he simply slumps weakly too the floor and just lays there, body too drained and exhausted to do much more than sink to the floor like a pile of cooked spaghetti.]
Help? [His tone is one more of confusion than fear or pain. He's not quite sure what's going on, he knows he can't really move and all, but he doesn't have enough wits about himself to be overly concerned and panicked about it either.]
[The voices over him are a mix of Mick's wife and Bucky, quick and clipped directions before Bucky is lifting him in his arms and directing Diana to run ahead of them and alert the hospital.]
[Mick doesn't fight when he's picked up. He is confused though. Why is everyone so upset? It's just a little fever...a little flu. He'll be fine by morning for sure. He knows it.]
Gotta take a piss. [He mumbles but of course they're halfway to the hospital now. Might as well wait until they're there.]
Yeah you can wait until we're at the hospital. [Bucky pours on the speed and Mick is on a gurney in moments, being rushed in.
Intake is quick, Mick is prepped and vitals taken. An IV is started for fluids and discussions are had about using the cooling rooms set aside for overheated speedsters to being down his fever.]
[His temperature is high and he's fairly dehydrated, but other than that his vitals seem stable. Mick is allowed a little privacy to relieve himself, though he's not allowed to stand up to do so. Still, he feels awful enough to not really care all that much about it. He is also really glad Bucky and Diana cannot get whatever he has. But then...fuck...the baby. Wide, slightly delirious eyes find Bucky's.]
[Mick slowly falls into a light sleep but he's too cold and everything hurts too much for him to really be able to rest and of course, he's too stubborn to complain about it.]
