I know that baking is not your specialty, but I consider you a friend and I would prefer my request be made by someone I trust to do it right. How are you at making the more traditional american cakes? The sort with three or four layers.

I'm not bad with cake but nothing too crazy. So I can handle a 3 or 4 layer cake depending on the usual factors. So come by the shop and we can discuss the details? So nobody gets nosy mention its our normal chat for Lotus desserts.

['shortly' was very short indeed: he apparently sped right over because even as his driver screeched to a stop in front of the building, he was jumping out before it could be safely still. Hopping a bit on his bad leg and cursing loudly, he rushed inside. It took a second to compose himself and he presented a very big, bright smile to Tulip.]

Tulip! My dear! I know this is short notice, but with the Yule ball happening tomorrow at the Lotus, I must simply discuss the need for much larger order than usual. Can we talk in private for the details?

Kitchen! [Tulip calls to Oswald as she peeks out to greet him.] I got your message and have some ideas to run by you with that in mind. Plus fresh pot of coffee.

[He hurries to the back and finds a large cup to pour himself a drink.]

I hate coffee.

[Then downs half of it. Takes a deep breath. Turns to her:]

I need a wedding cake.

[Downs the rest like it's alcohol.]

Start talking. [Tulip gets a notebook and pen to sketch out ideas.[ I can handle 3 or 4 layers but nothing too wild, but we can get creative with flavors.

Lilacs and Bells of Ireland. All members of the wedding party will be given corsages to wear consisting of Lilacs and Bells of Ireland. Purple for me, green for him, but pastel-ish to match the Yule Ball icy theme.

While I would prefer something more on the reserved and classic side... Ed would be most pleased with something that sparkles.

[The things he put up with for you, Ed. God. A *sparkling* wedding cake]

If you must do sugar crystals for a glitter effect due to the notice, then so be it. Maybe a frosted or ice effect so it doesn't stand out as a wedding cake immediately? Oh, and a topper made of two penguins. One holding an umbrella and one holding a question mark. To be put on after the wedding has started so he doesn't know that's what it's for.

The wedding is a surprise.

[As they talk Tulip is sketching. She spins the pad to let Oswald see.]

I saw an ice effect for frosting online that would be perfect too. As for toppers maybe give Luna a jingle? Her magic may be useful given timing plus I know she designs and makes her own jewelry.

What about flavors for the layers?

Dark chocolate devil's food for the bottom, Lemon for the middle, and Raspberry angel's food for the top. A little heaven, a little hell, and some lemon for me. I would ask for something more traditionally Hungarian, but that could take more time than we have to learn the recipes for.

Hungarian recipes and timing are just not on our side, time wise. But good flavor calls! [As she spins the pad back to Oswald.] Decorating for the holidays? [This as people pass by the open kitchen door.] I had too much fun with lights and we have a tree in the cabin.

Oh, ah, we haven't really done anything for our personal space. I've been away and Ed was kidnapped. Really we haven't had the chance yet.

[He took the pad and made a couple quick notes for minor changes to the design. As much as he wanted this to be perfect, he understood that he currently didn't have the resources at his disposal to make it exactly right. And Tulip was doing him a huge favor as it was. So only a couple note changes and he'd trust her judgement on the rest.]

After the Ball the perhaps. With the children's input. It will probably be more their thing as it is.

Still got time to decorate plus your wards may have ideas too. [this as Tulip accepts the pad with a nod.] You asked how long Jesse and I have been together, several years but he and I have been best friends since we were kids. [This due to the open door and people passing by. She makes one note and passes the pad back to Oswald.] And I'm picking up my dress for the ball later, its insane even by my standards. [Going for humor in this case.]

[Oswald checks the new note, considers it, and then draws a quick check mark to okay everything.]

Nonsense. No dress is too insane for an event like this.

[He looked up at her and smiled.

It's quite the point to be seen and seen more than others.

[With a thumbs up Tulip flips to a sketch of the dress.]

Its nuts in my mind! You see hoe I dress! [But the banter is fun too. She scribbles a note about taking Jesse into confidence about tonight's cake making, as her boyfriend she knows he'll worry.] Honestly I'm more of a cocktail dress girl when dressing up does happen. [but she's smiling, memories of their wild days coming back.]

[He makes a note that Jesse had been asked to officiate the service.]

Oh, that looks wonderful. And yes, I can see a cocktail preference for you. You have the build for it. Not everyone looks good in those sorts of affairs and looking your best really is about having something that's cut to compliment the lines you have naturally.

[He's both a mob boss and a fashion. Though he did have a preference for talking about suits, he had learned quite a bit about dresses and women's clothes from Fish. She wore hers like armor and weapon both.]

[A thumbs up, Tulip will be texting Jesse shortly.]

I just like cocktail, better to fight in if needed for one thing. [But this is with a smile.] Like with Kristen, she can rock the retro Barbie while it would look like dress up on me right? [In the process she digs up the ice effect for icing on her TC and spins it towards Oswald for a look.]

[He really did hate to compromise so much on the look of the cake, but he was also a realist about time constraints. So while he wasn't completely happy with it, he gave a thumbs up for Tulip to go ahead with it. He had to trust her. He did trust her. He did.]

Since I've gotten to know her, I feel she could easily go high glam if she just went with a more dramatic updo than she favors. But I doubt she'd like to. And perhaps it's for the better. Wouldn't want Edward's eyes wandering back...

[He says it like a joke, but there's a bit of fear there he's covering for. Until they were married this would be a fear of his. He knew from his time back in his world how obsessed Ed had been with her.

He didn't seem to be now, but... the fear would linger.]

[Tulip will find a present for her from Freya at the candy story with a note that tells her not to accidentally stab anyone with it. Only stab people on purpose.]

[Mick is standing outside of Tulip's shop with a to go cup of coffee waiting for her]

Morning! [This as Tulip comes out of the shop post taking care of an ongoing order.] I have a photo of a ring I found too but insight is helping period. [The printout peeking out of her wallet.]

Did you have a place in town you were looking at? I got Bucky's ring off world.

That little shop in the merchant dome? I ordered his wedding present from off world. [getting the photo of an elegant dress watch from her purse.] Picking it up during my next pepper pick up.

That's a good shop. Do you wanna start there?

Hows everything else coming along? Ya'll figure out a menu of what you'd like ta have?

So far so good. My dress is finished and I do have ideas on food. We grew up in Texas so maybe a BBQ? But I need to speak with Eve soon about a cake.[making a note on her to do list].

The easy part was engraving on the watch, I'm using our line. It's a huge part of our history as a couple.

I can make just about any kind of bbq you want. Can even do it like mini slider style or something. If you two want I can set up a tasting later this week.

[As she fishes her TC to text Jesse Tulip nods.]

Let me check schedules but can promise an answer ASAP.

I wanna spoil you tonight. Some good food, fine whiskey, a nice massage.

Be home in 15 minutes, locking up the shop as we speak.

[After a detour to pick up a fresh carton of cigarettes a knock is at the door.]
