Okay. He's just okay with it? Steve can't believe his ears. His eyes widen and he jumps to his feet, moving quickly over to Bucky to take one of his hands and grip it tight. "It's a flare baby. I didn't. I would never... I don't cheat, Buck. You have to know that about me, right," he insists.
His other hand reaches out, wanting so badly to cup Bucky's cheek but hesitating inches from the surface. "Mercy never wanted kids. She's so heartbroken over this. Like... She's not ready for getting sick. I want to be there for her. I want to try to help. I want..." Honestly, he didn't know what he wanted, but he couldn't let a friend of his go through this alone.
Bucky takes his hand easily, "I know. You aren't the kind of fella who goes stepping out, you never have been."
There are a thousand questions they'll have to answer. Does she even want to keep the baby? Shared custody like he and David are planning? Are they going to have to expand on the cabin to make enough room for two nurseries? They're also questions that will keep for now.
"Invite her over. We got a lot to figure out and maybe it'll help if she knows she isn't alone?"
He's quiet. Too quiet, probably. For what seems like an eternity even if it's only seconds in reality. He swallows, nodding his head in agreement because he's having the same thought. So much to discuss. "I... I want to take you to her shop. Show you the bike I was working on," he mumbles.
He has some answers, but not all of them. Not yet. It's not like the pod. She's going to carry it to term. He feels bad for her, knowing how she felt about children.
"I... I will. I mean..."
And suddenly Steve is hugging Bucky, pulling his partner in close and clinging to him like his life depended on it. Eyes closed, face buried in Bucky's neck, Steve just stands there wondering where they went from here. It's a good thing, it really is, it just feels so awkward to him in that moment. He wants to be happy about it, but he just can't stop. He was so worried he'd lose Bucky forever.
"Okay. We can start with that." Little steps. Steve is clearly overwhelmed so Bucky isn't going to make it worse by peppering him with questions that he may or may not have the answers to.
His arms shift easily to hold him, to pull Steve in close and let him draw the comfort he so very badly needs in the moment. "End of the line, remember?" his lips are near his ear as he holds him, his solid and calloused hand running in slow circles on his back. "You and me Stevie."
"Always."
When Steve pulls back Bucky kisses him, long and slow and thorough. Reminding him that nothing is going to come between what they have now. "I love you, punk."
"End of the line..." Steve smiles, returning the kiss and letting his arms loosen their hold on Bucky. His grip isn't so tight anymore, even if it's still very firm around his lover. His partner. His everything. A small moan slips out into the kiss as Steve just lets all the tension melt away.
Bucky isn't leaving him. He isn't going anywhere. Whatever happens, however many babies they have, they will have them together.
"God, I love you so much, Buck." Steve grins and pulls back a little, taking Bucky's fingers in his and threading them together. "Let's... Let's move this out of the kitchen, hmm?"

"Okay."
Is it that simple? Yeah. When it comes to Steve Rogers it's always that simple as far as Bucky is concerned. "So we figure it out, Stevie."

"Two kids... What are we going to do?"
