I need to be escorted to the town bunker in light of the attacks. The sheriff does not want me going along. Could you take me?

Yes!

I'm on my way.

Martin

[ And he literally arrives, a moment later, between words and moments, his speed pushing near max as he seems to just appear out of nowhere. ]

[Katharine offers him a tight smile. She’s visibly worried.]

There have been attacks in town, against those of us abducted by The Black Door.

[Oh yes, she was abducted by the Black Door. That’s a hell of a thing to drop.]

[ His face grows grim. ] If they want you again, they'll have to go through me.

[ Then he sighs. ] I have a feeling I'm going to need to know this story.

Let's get you to the shelter.

Then I am the safest I can be.

[Katharine moves to take his hand. Now that he’s here she feels perfectly safe walking to the bunker.]

It was the end of last year, a group of us were abducted by the Black Door. How they managed to be so coordinated we still do not know. Some of us were taken in broad daylight.

We were taken to Enigma Station where they intended to run experiments on us.

[ He gently tugs her close, eyes worried, and hoping he can protect her, and afraid, a little that he won't be able to. ]

Do we know where this Enigma Station is?

[Katharine feels no such lack of confidence, though she’s happy to be close to him.]

We do, the name of the station is no longer appropriate.

Kevin Keller is in hospital, as is Bucky Barnes, and Mick Rory is missing. To attack only those taken sends a message.

[ Martin nods. ]

Then I need to find them, whoever is behind it, and hit them. [ His fists curl for a moment, then he relaxes. ]

First, we get you to safety, and then I find out how I can help.

[Just the way he phrases it makes Katharine smile. If Martin hits someone, they’re not getting back up again.]

I tried to be neutral last time, with the bugs, but I cannot be this time. The Black Door has gone too far.

You will need to call the Sheriff if you want to help. She seems to know more about what is happening.

I will do that.

[ He hugs her and smiles. ]

We will end this.

[She’ll snuggle into the hug. She likes how she feels totally enveloped when he does that.

It makes her a little wistful she can see the entrance to the bunker. ]

I am not as worried they will come for me. They took many of them for scientific research. They took me because I was convenient. They complained they would not know what to do with me.

[ Having her in his arms, well, it is the best thing he can think of. The best thing entirely. ]

I will hope to help where I can. And keep an eye out, anyway.

[Katharine sighs and reluctantly separates herself.]

This will be only a few days, I am sure.

[She rests a hand on his chest.]

And when I am free, will you walk me home?

[ He kisses her once more. ]

I know. And when it is over, we can walk home, and we can maybe have a picnic... after awhile.

[ He grins at her, eyes bright. ]

[She lingers for a few moments longer.]

A picnic sounds lovely.

[Reluctantly she pulls away, to head into the bunker.]

The idea will keep me smiling while I am stuck in the bunker.

[ And he drifts upward and away, watching until he cannot anymore. ]
