[ If that's the case, she's going to wrap her arms around his waist and hug him tightly in return, pressing her face against his shoulder, trying to be reassuring just with her presence alone. Is it working? She has no clue. ]
We don't have to talk. I'm dead tired but I couldn't sleep there. [Harry yawns and follows her to the bed, slipping in on whichever side she wants him on, he's already half asleep anyway.]
[ Even if she can handle her own and they both know it. She crawls in next to him and lies on her side to face him, kissing his forehead for a moment before resting her forehead against his. ]
[He wraps an arm around her and pulls her close more for warmth and comfort than anything else. She's a beacon of light in his otherwise dark world. He slowly falls asleep as he listens to her breathing and thankfully the rest of the night is uneventful for him]
[ He's asleep and she is, too, a few moments later. Her head is tucked under his chin and her arms are tucked between her chest and his. Surprisingly, it's a perfect way to fall asleep.
And it's a great way to wake up, too, with his face just a few inches from hers. So he gets a kiss to his forehead before Gwen sits up on the edge of her bed, stretching some and again, listening for anyone else in the apartment.
Jake must have left for the day, because as far as she can tell, it's just her and her pirate. ]
[Harry is so used to sleeping light from Isle life that to sleep deeply for the first time really does knock him out. He trusts Gwen 100% go watch his back and keep him safe that he sleeps deep enough to not even notice her get up in the morning. It's the scent of coffee and food that pulls him from bed a while later. He smiles when he realizes he's in her bed and is actually startled by just how refreshed he feels. He gets up and slowly wanders out of her room and into the kitchen uncaring of his hair which is in full bedhead glory]
Mornin, dove. [His voice is still sleep rumpled as he drops a kiss onto her head before heading to the bathroom after subtly making sure her guardian wasn't around]
[ There's coffee. There's pancake mix. There's bacon cooking in the oven. When he kisses her head, she smiles just a bit, turning to look at him as he heads to the bathroom. ]
It's just us. I already checked.
[ She manages to say this before the bathroom door is shut. Harry might notice the bathroom is absolutely organized into Jakes stuff and Gwens stuff. And it's clean. She did that yesterday. Gwen's stuff consists of the usual girly hair-care stuff, all headbands and such black. There are shampoo bars in the shower, all marked with the name of the shop that sells them.
While he's doing what he has to in there, Gwen sets about making bacon pancakes for the two of them. She usually just grabs something while she's out, but she has nowhere to be today and besides; she likes doing things for Harry that he's probably never tried before. When he comes out of the bathroom, he might notice she's taken the braid out of her hair and now it's a bit wild, hair wavier than usual and curling here and there. It doesn't look half bad. ]
[Harry doesn't shower but he does his business and does poke around a little bit because why not?
He comes back a few minutes later yawning widely once more. He goes for the coffee and turns looking for milk to add. Ever since arriving in New Dodge he's taken to having milk and sugar in his coffee. He swipes a piece of bacon if he can, munching while he hunts for sugar as well. If she doesn't let him have the bacon he'll just keep searching.]
[ The sugar is kept up high. Why, Gwen has no idea, but she can get it. She doesn't pull over a chair for it, just climbs the counter in her own vaguely spider-ish way, sticking to the doors of the cabinets and getting a knee up on the counter before opening one of the higher cabinets and pulling the sugar down. ]
Here.
[ With that, she lands back on the floor, vaguely en pointe before heading back to making breakfast. And she's most certainly going to let him have some bacon. She made a lot.]
[He takes the sugar with a grin and starts adding some to his cup, stirring once he's added enough. He sips the hot liquid and gives a hum of happiness at it. Then she asks if he's alright and he gives a small shrug.]
I suppose. Thank you for letting me in. I didn't want to be alone. And that smells amazing. What is it?
I'll do the same then. [He sips his coffee while he watches her cook]
Sounds wonderful. Will you teach me how to do it? [He has no idea how to cook things really...Ursula cooked all the food in the chip shop and that was pretty much the only place he ate so....yeah. This poor kid doesn't even know how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich yet]
I can, sure. But uh...fair warning? I'm not the best chef in the world, so in general, my skills are limited to adding water to dry pancake mix and cooking bacon in the oven so it doesn't splatter everywhere.
[ This was probably the nicest morning she's had in a good, long while. Gwen could get used to this. Watching the pancake she has cooking for a moment, she points out the bubbles around the edge. ]
Okay, so...you already saw me pour a bit of batter in. You have to wait until it's sort of dry and bubbly around the edge before you can flip it. Otherwise, it falls apart. And since we're making bacon pancakes, now's the perfect time to add bacon.
[ Which she does. Just a couple slices of already cooked bacon and then they're pushed in a little bit with the spatula before Gwen flips the pancake over. ]
Keep the heat about at medium, otherwise the whole thing cooks far too fast. And after you've flipped it, it's just a short wait before they're cooked.
I really like that too. [He returns the kiss before moving to refill his coffee cup and heading to the table to be out of the way as she finishes getting the stuff plated.]
[ She'll have to make a point of having it happen more often, then. ]
Hey, you said you wanted to learn.
[ Gwen says, tone teasing. She actually doesn't mind he sat down. She kinda wants to sit down, herself. And the pancake she demonstrated on was the last one, anyway, so she's going to set the plate down on the table and get her own coffee.
I look forward to it. Mostly because it means there will be a next time. [He gives her a wide smile before taking two pancakes and putting them on his plate. He puts some butter on them because he's found he likes it like that. And not much syrup because while he enjoys sweets he finds he doesn't like a lot of them. Plus his coffee is sweet already.
He takes a bite and groans because it is delicious. salty and sweet and perfect]
This is amazing, dove. Thank you for fixing it for me.
[ Before Gwen heads to her seat to sit down, she stops near Harry to press a kiss to the top of his head, settling in a seat near him. ]
So, I have an idea. I'm more than fine with you staying overnight. It was kind of neat having you climb through the window like that. What if I left curtains open as an all-clear? That way, you don't have to knock.
Oh, yeah. That's smart. I don't have curtains but Veronica doesn't come in the room ever and all and unless she tells me to close it, I plan on leaving the window open. I'm too used to it to not have it anymore.

Anything I can do?

Can I stay here tonight?

Yeah. No problem. Just...Jake's in the next room, so we have to keep our voices down.

Know you'll keep me safe.

[ She pours batter for another pancake and watches it carefully as she speaks. ]
My brothers favorite breakfast food in the world; pancakes with bacon in them.
