When he is let in, Groot will hop up into Charles's lap with another picture for him to hang up.]
I am Groot. [So this whole Black Door thing. It's got him worried. He was able to protect the smaller humans in the artificial wombs when there was a monster attack, but this is so much bigger. Scarier. He has people that he cares about that he wants to help protect. People like Charles. David, his Dad.
He stands up, puffing out his little chest.] I am Groot! [So it's time he grows! They're getting together what he needs, but it also means because he has to put down roots he's going to be stuck in one place for about a week and he doesn't want Charles to worry.]
I am Groot? [He also kind of hopes that he'll visit him?]

He offers Charles another picture, and Charles accepts it with a smile. He's been shopping recently, and for Groot's benefit has taken to keeping a few of those origami stars on him. The one he gives Groot in trade is made from a paper he found in the merchant's dome, light as air and luminescent, glowing with a gentle orange light as he places it in the little tree's palm.
He listens carefully as Groot explains himself while Charles glides across the room in his hover chair. Mindful of Groot as he stands and puffs himself up, Charles stops in front of the refrigerator to add the new drawing to his growing collection.]
That's a very noble thing, Groot--wanting to protect those you love. And? That includes talking to your family when you don't want them to worry should you have to stay home for a while. Growing up is very important, and if dear old Grandad can do anything to help you prepare? Just ask, and I will be there.
[His little question...oh, it breaks Charles's heart in the best way possible. Once the drawing is securely on his fridge, Charles gathers Groot up into his arms, giving him the biggest hug he possibly can without damaging his little branches.]
I shall see you every single day--and if I can't come over to see you in person, make sure David has your TC close. I'll get on the video phone and we'll read some more of The Fellowship of the Ring together.
[Drawing back, he looks into Groot's little face with a fond smile, and with what little the boy's been able to teach him, he carefully chooses his inflection and focuses his intent to make sure he's understood.]
We are Groot.
[Little boy, your grandpa loves you to the moon and back.]
