I know how scattered he was, but he doesn’t have that option anymore. He has two children who need him to hold it together. I don’t know what’ll happen if he can’t.

He doesn't have the option anymore. But the idea that he won't have a choice? Always there. It's not...scattered. It's like...dislocation. From everything. From the world. It's like getting stuck between thoughts. And she was like...anchoring. So he's afraid that without her, he'll be...unmoored?
