[Mick has talked to Diana at home, messaged everyone he can think Lenny would call including Lisa, and then packed up Helen's diaper bag and headed to the Casino. Enough is enough. Helen is almost a month old and Leonard hasn't seen her even once. As much as he wants to deny it, Helen is biologically his child and Mick wants him to at LEAST hold her ONCE!
He needs to finish cooking dinner and cleaning in preparation for Bucky to come to dinner and well, he'd thought of this. So he strolls into Len's office, walks around his desk ignoring whatever the other is saying, and places the baby gently into his arms.]
Helen, meet Len. She's been changed, fed and I need a babysitter for three hours. Your it.
"Mick? Mick what are you doing?" He's deep in managing the books, both the real ones and the cooked version the Council gets to assess any taxes and he really doesn't have time for any more heart-to-heart talks with his partner.
His eyes widen when he realizes the bundle in the crook of Mick's arm is the baby. Their baby.
"No Mick.. I can't.."
She's warm and solid in his arms and he is going to murder his partner. The protests die down to furious hisses as Mick leaves without so much as a look back.
Mick knows Len will not allow anything at all to happen to her, he wouldn't have left her if he wasn't sure. He walks straight out of the office and shuts the door giving a soft sigh. Tough love is hard sometimes...but Len needs this..even if he refuses to admit it.
Mick goes down to the kitchen to grab a few things he's borrowing for the house. He has most kitchen tools at home but some he just moves back and forth as he needs them. Once home he sets about making a meat loaf with all smattering of sides and a fresh apple cobbler for dessert.
Idly he wonders if Len is alright, but instead of reaching out he starts straightening up the house. The boys are pretty much self sufficient, merely sleeping in the house more often than not and thankfully they don't leave too much of their stuff around. If there is an errant piece he just puts it in their respective rooms.
He's still going to murder his partner. Creatively. Over long periods of time. While Leonard is used to expecting the plan to go off the rails and throw said plan away, nothing ever touches on being ambushed with your own infant daughter.
But Leonard remembers a time years ago, a small boy being entrusted with an even smaller bundle of blankets and chubby fists and a tuft of hair.
You take care of her, Leo. That's your baby sister.
After all this time he hasn't forgotten how to hold a baby, how to rock them and amuse them.
When she naps it's in a deep drawer in his desk lined with blankets. The lights are dim and soft music plays as Leonard works. He keeps a weapon close at hand - paranoia and he are old friends after all.
It's three and a half hours later before Mick returns. He creeps silently to Len's door and waits for a half a beat listening. He slowly opens the door peeking in as he does so, mindful that Len should be expecting him but also may be holding a weapon.
"You know damn well ya ain't gonna shoot me. Besides, Diana would be the one you'd have to deal with if you did. Not that I would mind watching that fight." Mick chuckles at his best friend. "I see you both survived."
"I raised Lisa, remember? I haven't forgotten how to handle children." He's still going to make Mick's life a living hell for dropping this on him. But for now the baby is sleeping quietly in his office and Leonard isn't quite ready to let her go.
Mick gives a smile so faint it's possible Lenny might miss it. "Call me when she wakes up, or if you want, you can just bring her home later. There's enough supplies in her bag if you're up to feeding her. We do 8oz water and 1 scoop of formula powder. Ya know the rest.
Have fun." He says moving to head out unless Len tries to stop him.
"I know the rest." And his eyes drift down to the sleeping baby, his hand resting feather light on her chest to feel her warmth, the way she shifts and makes the tiniest of sounds.
Later that afternoon, before Bucky is scheduled to come over for dinner Snart will message Mick that he'll take care of Helen for the night. They have some catching up to do.
Mick smiles to himself when he gets that message. Good. His plan worked. He smiled over at Diana and was very happy to tell her the news. He knows it's not perfect, but it's better than the wraith he was even just a day ago.

Helen will remain safe under his watch.
