Your friend judged me for some things that made me uncomfortable, when your friend doesn't know me very well. I feel that your friend should get his information correct before he starts throwing around accusations.
He shouldn't insult the people of New Dodge when he hasn't been here long enough to blink at them. People can live their lives as they please. My mother used to say if you can't say something nice, don't say something at all.
Re: 3/17
Steve,
I don't understand why you are even fighting.

Re: 3/17
That's an awful lot of contumeliousness in two sentences. Did he say something in private that I didn't see?
- Edward
Re: 3/17
I had to look that word up, you know...
He shouldn't insult the people of New Dodge when he hasn't been here long enough to blink at them. People can live their lives as they please. My mother used to say if you can't say something nice, don't say something at all.
I just... I didn't like what he was implying.
~Steve
Re: 3/17
Oh? No, I didn't know that.
I'm not sure I understand. What was he implying? [ Look, he still has the brain freeze, big words or not. ]
- Edward
Re: 3/17
We didn't start off on a good footing. That's all. I'm sorry, but I don't think your friend and I will get along very well. It... It doesn't matter.
~ Steve
Re: 3/17
It's Oswald Cobblepot. Very few people get along well with him. Why doesn't it matter?
- Edward
Re: 3/17
Because he is your friend and I do not want to put you in the middle of it.
He was rather insulting.
He's not polite like you are.
Steve.
Re: 3/17
I'm not always polite. He's not...always insulting. He might be jealous.
Ed
Re: 3/17
Oh.
But he has no reason to be?
[He wonders if Oswald saw him talking to Ed at the party and that's what started this. He had just been so rude.]
You have been nothing but polite to me. And he... Well... He wasn't.
He should work on his manners.
~Steve
Re: 3/17
No. He doesn't have reason to be.
Yes. But I seem to recall someone in town telling me that everyone deserves a second chance.
- Edward
Re: 3/17
[HUGE SIGH. His own words against him. Dirty trick.]
Well, I don't know who said that. They must have been a punk...
Okay... Can he not be so insulting in the future? Or... Less judgey?
Steve.
Re: 3/17
That's certainly possible!
I don't know. I hope so. Especially if he expects to run a business.
Edward
Re: 3/17
My apologies. His very insulting comments stung, especially when he barely knows me.
I shouldn't have reacted the way that I did.
Especially with someone you care about.
Steve.
Re: 3/17
I suppose I can understand that.
Thank you. For the apology.
Our friendship is...complex.
Edward
Re: 3/17
Just make sure it's good. That he doesn't hurt you.
Or I'll hurt him.
Steve
Re: 3/17
Would you? What would you do, if he hurt me?
- Ed
Re: 3/17
I... I don't know. I don't want to do anything, he is your friend.
That said, I... I was beginning to think of you as my friend. And I don't like to see my friends get hurt.
It makes me angry.
~Steve
Re: 3/17
I get the impression people would be very surprised to see you angry.
- Ed
Re: 3/17
Well, a lot of them were also very surprised to see me inebriated, so...
I'm usually better with my emotions. I'm sorry.
Steve
Re: 3/17
Why are you apologizing?
- Ed
Re: 3/17
Because I acted rashly. I should know better.
Steve
Re: 3/17
Why should you know better? People act rashly
- Ed
Re: 3/17
That's not who I am. I try to be better. I don't swear. I have rules that I live by.
Steve
Re: 3/17
...you don't swear?
- Edward
