[A little dusting of pink colors his cheeks when she kisses his cheek and then he has to clear his throat and shut the door before walking with her into his yurt.]

Oh..uhh...lasagna. And fresh bread.

[That faint blush is adorable and she follows him back towards the kitchen.] Fresh bread? I had no idea you were so talented in the kitchen. [A wry smile towards the cake she purchased.] I'm afraid when it comes to baking my skills are a little on the limited side.

I don't know if it's talented...kind of always had to fend for myself. My Gran taught me a bunch and the rest I learned along the way. Making bread is sometimes cheaper than buying it....anyway...uh..I uh..I could teach you some stuff maybe. If ya want.

Uh...have a seat, I'll just pull everything out of the oven.

[Mick Rory has never been one to stumble awkwardly over words but here he was doing just that. He could kick himself but honestly she makes him feel so many things at once he doesn't know what to do with them all.

He pulls the lasagna out of the oven and dishes it up. He puts some salad on the plate, shaves some fresh cheese over all of it, and then carries the plates over to the table. He places a basket of bread in the center along with a small dish of butter and some homemade salad dressing.]

It is absolutely a talent Mick. A wonderful one. [Diana is content to sit and watch him work, sure and careful in the kitchen as he moves. She tries to keep the conversation light, discussing the progress on the casino as he brings the food to the table.]

It smells incredible, thank you.

[Mick takes his seat and offers her a small smile]
Thanks. Uh, you want butter on your bread? [He reaches for a piece of fresh bread intending to butter it for her if that's what she wants. Otherwise he simply places it on the little plate beside her salad before breaking off a piece for himself.]

[Diana is completely charmed by Mick's actions, his kindness and his gentle nature that she is sure very few people every see. A smile as she nods.] Butter sounds lovely, thank you.

[and she takes a bite of the lasagne, a delighted smile breaking across her face. The pasta is fresh and night, the sauce bright and the meat and cheese a perfect counter.

She needs a sip of wine before she can speak again.] This is incredible Mick.

[Mick's pretty sure she's the third or fourth person to see this side of him...and the first woman he's every had romantic intentions with. He's still so very unsure of what it means and what to do or say or think...but he knows he hasn't seen her in a couple days and that he really wanted too. And eating at the saloon was expensive after a while.]

I'm glad you like it.

[And Diana has wanted to see him too, but she also hasn't wanted to push, particularly since their daughter had returned to her own time and to a life where her parents were already married and not just getting to know one another.

She reaches to squeeze his hand gently.] I love it. I had no idea you were such a wonderful cook.

"Ain't all that really..had to learn to fend for myself. Took care of Leonard and his sister. I like it though. Cookin'."

"Where I grew up, Hestia was goddess of home and hearth. There is a magic in setting a table and in filling a kitchen with good food. It cares for people." Diana is sure that this is a side of Mick that is rarely seen and that makes it even more important to her.

"So how is the casino restoration coming?" It has occupied a lot of his time and if it is important to Mick, that means it is important to her.

Mick smiles at her. He's glad that she's here with him. Sharing a meal. Conversation. He doesn't know much about ancient gods and goddesses but he knows he likes her.

When she asks about the Casino he nods. "Len's gettin' antsy but hopefully we should be able to open soon."

She cherishes every smile she can coax from him when they're together. "I am sure that he is. You've been working so hard on it."

"Does he have anything planned to celebrate the opening?"

"If he does he hasn't told me about it yet. He's one of the kinds of people who likes to get it all planned out before telling anyone about it. I'm sure whatever he chooses it will be a headache for me and fun for everyone else." He says even as he grins. The look on his face clearly shows that he's not bothered by that at all.

"What have you been doing lately?"

A smile. "He means a great deal to you." So few people can put that look on Mick's face, an easy and relaxed smile. Leonard Snart may be a challenging man, but Mick clearly enjoys the challenge.

"Teaching the children history, we were working on sculpture during art, there are quite a few interesting creatures waiting to be baked and painted I think," a smile. She does love spending time with them.

"Only family I ever really had." Mick says fondly. "Him and Lisa." He says. He's glad she understands. He's glad she doesn't mind it.

He eats his food while listening to her talk about her teaching, he doesn't understand a lot about art except that it's expensive and fun to steal....and burn...but that's beside the point. "How do you bake a creature? Is that an art term thing?"

"I'm sorry, no. They're small creatures the children molded from clay." Something that holds a certain significance to Diana but that's for another time. "We are going to fire the clay in order to firm it up, to turn it to pottery."

"They will be able to paint them once they've been cooked and cooled."

"Oh." Mick says nodding in understanding when she explains what it actually means. "That's pretty cool. Makin' things like that. What kinds of things did they make?"

"Dragons, insects, tigers, creatures I've never seen before," a smile as she thinks about her students. A job she never would have considered but one she truly loves in New Dodge. "The children are quite remarkable."

Mick smiles as she tells him. "I..uh...you think I could see em?" He asks blushing lightly and hoping she'd say yes.

Diana's smile brightens as she takes his hand. "I would love that." The children are important to her and Mick is just as important to her, so to bring them together is something wonderful. "I am sure the children will love to share their art with you as well."

He gave her a small smile before continuing his meal and enjoying their conversation.

"I'm gonna get some more, you want anything while I'm up?" He asks moving to get more lasagna.

And who knows, maybe Mick could assist with the firing of the clay figures the children had worked on? "I'll take about half of whatever you're having please?"

"What do you like to do when you aren't keeping an eye on your friend?"

"Sure thing." Mick plats them both up some more food before returning to his seat.

"Uh...drink...read....tinker in Mercy's garage. Little odd things I guess."

"What do you like to read?" Interested, she leans forward, forearms resting on the table. "Or what do you work on? Are they cars or something else?"

"Don't really pay much attention to authors and stuff. I like mysteries I guess, and books about people stealin' stuff. Them Sherlock books is good." Mick says. "And I work on little things. Fixed a couple radios, help with a car transmission..."
