And when Mick arrives, Max is there to greet both him and the baby. Bucky is in the barn, stripped to the waist and sweaty as he hauls in bales of sweet clover and hay bedding for the animals. "Hey man. Give me a second to finish up here and I'll get you that milk."
Mick gives Max his customary cuddles and pets and affection before following him out to the barn. His mouth goes dry when he sees Bucky there shirtless and doing his work. He's started to think about Bucky differently in the past few months. He's been fighting with it...talking to Diana about it. It's hard to admit things sometimes...god he's so handsome.
"Hey." He says giving nothing away. "Take your time. I'm not in a hurry." Mick says watching him. "How you doing?"
When you're the only one running the farm full time, super soldier strength does come in handy. Mick gets an easy grin and Bucky doesn't even feel like he needs to grab his shirt to hide his scars.
"Keeping busy, you know." Feeling a little lonely as the holidays approach, but he's got a growing family in New Dodge. "Got to run a few gifts over to Cisco's place later."
That gets a pause and a grin from Bucky. Having Mick and Diana in his life has made all the difference since Steve was taken away. They've opened their home and lives to him and for that he will be forever grateful. "Send the same back."
He pauses, evaluating the state of the barn. Probably a good place to pause.
"This spring we'll have lambs so I can add sheep milk to your usual orders." Fresh eggs, milk and if he can get a shipment in, bees for honey.
"That's great. If ya need help with anything just give me a holler. I'm able to come and go a little more from the Casino now that I've got a new kitchen manager." Mick still does a lot of cooking but he's got a lot of other things going on that are more important.
"Believe it or not it was the other way around." Mick says rubbing the back of his neck. "He says I spend too much time there. As if he's one to talk." He gets it though. Len wants him to spend time with his family while he can. And part of that just eats Mick up because he sees Len drowning himself in work as an escape.
"You're worried about him." Bucky mops his face with his shirt, focused on all of those little tells of Mick's, every sign that lets on how concerned he is.
"He lost his wife a few months back, didn't he? Part of the flux out that took Barry's mom?"
"Barry's mom is...was...his wife. He sees me and Diana...Lisa and Jefferson and it just reminds him of what he lost. For the first time in my life I can't do anything to help him. I just...I got so blessed and I know I could loose it. You lost Steve, he lost Nora....it just ain't fair. You shouldn't have to be alone like that."
Bucky rests his hip against the closest bale of clover. "I don't know man, I wish I did. This place it gives you everything you need and then sometimes it takes it away again." And losing Steve had hurt so much, it had left him gutted.
"It hurts, losing someone you love." A long exhale as he scrubs a hand through his hair, "But there are things that make it better, you know? You and Diana. David and Groot. Our little girls," a soft smile. "I got all the reasons I need to stay right here."
"I'm not alone and I'm willing to bet he ain't either."
Mick offers Bucky a warm smile. "I'm glad we help. I care about ya a lot Buck. You're as important to me as Lisa and Lenny and Diana and I'm glad you're here. Glad I know ya." He says.
"Come on, lets get you a drink and me that milk so I can get back to preparing for dinner."
"Right," he whistles for Max and they head back to the cabin. From the refrigerator he pulls out a few bottles in a carrier. "There you go. Fresh from this morning, just started cooling it down a little."
Then he digs in for lemonade, pouring a couple of glasses.
"Hey there pretty girl," he's absolutely going to talk to Helen, tickling her cheek for a moment. He's too sweaty to pick her up, but attention will be given. "She crawling around much yet?"
Mick takes the carrier of milk and sets it on the table before accepting the glass of lemonade. Max has flopped down at his feet, eyes on Helen and Mick has to smile. Maybe they should get a dog too.
Mick smiles as Bucky talks to Helen. He loves that this man loves his daughter as much as his own because Mick feels the same way about Grace.
"Not yet, but she has managed to roll over onto her back. Hasn't managed to roll back over yet though."
"That's a sweet girl, you'll figure it out won't you?" Bucky leans to kiss her sweet smelling cheek. She's a beautiful baby and he's sure that she and Gracie will grow up closer than sisters.
"Won't be long before they're looking to learn how to drive or get the keys to the Waverider."
Mick chuckles softly. "Yeah, I try not to think about that part. I just wanna enjoy her right now...don't wanna miss anything." He says. "I met Lisa when she was five, watched her grow up. Sometimes I look at her and I still see that fearless five year old I helped raise."

Yeah. I'll be out in the barn so just let yourself in. Gracie is with David and Groot for a few days.

“Awesome. I’m sure they’ll love that.” He chuckles. “Diana sends her hellos and love.”
