I will address the issue with my mother first. She is not yet in this universe. I arrived a little under two months ago via what is know as a 'flux in'. Those who arrive by chance must wait between four to six months, usually around six, for their requests to return to their own world via the Hopper to be processed. When the option becomes available to me, I will be returning with the intent to bring my mother back with me. I feel she'd be much happier here and my own concerns for her continued good health and fortune will be assuaged by her presence.

As you are not waiting to return anywhere, it is my understanding that you should be able to pay a visit to my universe for a brief period of time. But I cannot because of the logistics of something or other. If you wish to pursue that option, I am willing to give you the information you need to find and speak with my mother during the constraints of the visitation period.

Regarding my past, it is my understanding that New Dodge is considered the 'town of second chances'. We are supposed to be able to put our past to the side and start anew here.

If Mr. Rogers has led you to believe that isn't the case for myself, as is the implication of how you've stated your inquiry... then the worst thing I've done since coming here, is offer insult to the town at large for being unable to hold their liquor. I also did not have the best of reactions to being told I may be forced to become a father without my consent due to the Solar Flares and Mr. Rogers was displeased with how I handled that.

If you mean the worst thing I've ever done prior to my arrival, well, there's a fair amount to choose from. It really depends on what sliding scale of morality you hold to. I suggest asking directly about what you're most concerned for in regards to what I have or have not done. I will answer truthfully.

I'm not a good man, Lady Kathra. I get the impression that's likely where this inquiry is going. So let's get that out of the way.

I am, however, an honest man.

Personally, that's what I think should matter the most in this. That once a deal is made I will honor it. And you will as well.

But if you have concerns, please, be direct about them.

P.S. If you do choose to visit my mother, I would appreciate it if you keep any of what we discuss regarding my career in confidence. She wouldn't understand what I've had to do to provide and care for her. She has a very delicate constitution.

I am aware what was done to other members of my family, and despite rumours to the contrary, several of those were accidents. We’ve had some horrible luck. Some have been assassinations when it was believed Mercury’s assets were vulnerable. I’ve taken steps to prevent any vulnerability.

For my own protection, I’ve made an agreement with Haus of Gaga to manage Mercury’s assets should I not survive the heir’s childhood. This deal means there is no benefit to any other Haus, should something happen to me or the heir. Gaga does not want a second empty seat in the Hauses of Influence, more than they want any assets. I know Gaga wants me to have not only an heir, but also to have a smooth transition of power upon my death. If you know anything of the Hauses, you know Gaga’s success comes from looking into the distant future, and not just momentary gain.

You may inspect my security arrangements when I come to New Dodge, and be assured that during my pregnancy, I would not travel beyond Mercury’s holdings.
