[He marched over and made to swing at Ed, but came up short of actually hitting him before stomping with his good foot and then swatting his shoulder lightly to at least satisfy the urge.]

[he let out a choked cry and started to pace again, unable to better articulate the mixed emotions.]

There may be a slight smirk at the shoulder swatting, and then a sigh at the pacing.
