I hope that this correspondence finds you well after the events of this past Monday. While it seems that those in your current home find your work appalling or even disturbing, rest assured! Not everyone in this galaxy finds this the case. Your work is absolutely remarkable, complete genius in my personal opinion. I don't understand how anyone in your town doesn't understand this, it must be so awful be so underappreciated. I only wish that we could do something to help you, but alas we have very little influence over the town council of New Dodge. At the moment.
My name is Irwin Deathwhisper, I am a representative of the Haus of the Black Door, fourth member of the 31st council of eight and landgrave of the planet Isolate. I have come to you, dear friend, with an offer of friendship and quite possibly a request for your technological assistance. Are you interested?
Funding, of course. I assume that you have an account at the Galactic Bank? If not, the Haus of the Black Door can very easily open one for you and provide with a good faith donation of 500 gold. I believe that is 250,000 of your earth dollars.
Would that satisfy your curiosity regarding our intentions, Mr Beck?
Regards, Irwin Deathwhisper, 4th of the 31st Council of Eight, Landgrave of Isolate
Oh, we're not trying to buy your silence, far from it. The Haus of the Black Door simply wants you to have enough money to rebuild any lost technology, perhaps a lab of your own and in the future we'll be absolutely willing to hire you to gain the prestige and recognition that you deserve. Across the galaxy and through every Haus.
You know it sounds very shady when you need discretion for this, right?
What are you hiding for?
Are you afraid of being associated with me since my reputation around town has been... disintegrating.
Your offer sounds a little too good to be true without a catch.
[And while he's self-centered and tends to push things too far, he isn't stupid. He also wants to be seen as the hero, not the villain, so unless any potential criminal activity benefits him greatly, he won't go along with it.]
Well, no. We're one of the most powerful Hauses in the galaxy. Eleventh of the Twenty Hauses of Influence. Your own Cobra is only among the Rising Fifteen. Hardly even worth mentioning.
[He's not impressed and very suspicious. He doesn't think it sounds like a good deal and is still waiting for the catch. So he's going to almost immediately contact the sheriff and the mayor.]
I would graciously like to accept your offer although I do have a couple of issues.
One, my last major project was funded for over 600 million dollars so your funding is rather below expectations. However, for now it should suffice. For continued work, I would probably need more in the future. I trust you have the means for this, otherwise go steal some from Tony Stark.
Two, I will of course need more information about what tech you'll need me to make for you otherwise I have no direction.
Setting up a better lab is a start. That I can get to immediately - once my ridiculous time served under supervision has passed for the recent unfortunate incident.
5/1

Re: 5/1
Your words are appreciated and that you can see what most others don't.
I am interested.
However.
How do I know this is not some new form of mockery and that you are being sincere?

Why shouldn't I report this to the sheriff?
[He wants respect and recognition. Money isn't his focus.]
Re: 5/1
Is that not something that you want, Mr Beck?

You don't sound like a band of superheroes.

Re: 5/1
How much time do I have to think about your offer?
Re: 5/1
Let's say...forty eight hours.

Re: 48 hours later
Rest assured, we have more than enough means.
For the moment, we would like exactly what you produced last week but on a much larger scale.

Irwin Deathwhisper
